Whether you are interested in leadership and professional development, engaging with our programming, volunteering opportunities, joining our Caucus Core or Board of Directors or simply wanting to donate to our mission, there are several ways for community individuals to get involved with the Caucus.
Established in 2005, the mission of the Chicago Black Gay Men’s Caucus is to advance health equity among Black gay, bisexual and same gender loving (GBSGL) men by developing community-centered leadership and innovative programs. Since our inception, we have worked to bridge the existing gaps between traditional health care providers and non-traditional service entities (e.g., club/party, faith, business) that serve the diverse and growing communities of Black GBSGL men (e.g., youth, house/ballroom, kink/fetish).
In addition to our ongoing advocacy work and community building efforts, CBGMC offers a variety of programs tailored to the needs of our focus population. We specialize in creative and collaborative programming that promotes HIV testing/care/prevention, routine mental and physical health screenings, and risk reduction practices. Through a variety of community partnerships, we develop and implement programming designed to 1) build leadership, individual autonomy, and agency among Black GBSGL men, and 2) provide direct resource offerings and supportive navigation of vetted services. Moreover, our programming objectives focus on providing safe and welcoming spaces for Black GBSGL men and regular engagement opportunities.
Your financial support helps us to maintain our focus on improving the overall health and well-being of Black gay, bisexual and same gender loving men in Chicago.
