The Chicago Black Gay Men’s Caucus intentionally employs a “for us, by us” approach to all of our programming and activities. Our primary advisory board, known as the Caucus CORE, reflects the broad diversity within our community (e.g., youth, house/ballroom, kink/fetish, people living with HIV).

Funded by the Chicago Department of Public Health, this three-tier structural intervention was developed to improve representation of Black gay, bisexual, and same-gender-loving (GBSGL) men in local community planning, improve the overall satisfaction of Black GBSGL men’s experience with health and human services, increase sense of provider responsibility to deliver excellent service to Black GBSGL men, and increase provider capacity to provide culturally responsive services to Black GBSGL men.

The Caucus CORE

The Caucus CORE serves as the primary advisory body of Chicago Black Gay Men’s Caucus, where we cultivate the leadership capacity of men in our community. More intensive opportunities for involvement in leadership and advocacy within community are available to Caucus CORE members.

Caucus CONNECT

Caucus CONNECT serves to foster relationships between Black GBSGL men and a variety of healthcare and social support resources through regularly scheduled engagement opportunities (e.g., the Black and Queer AF Book Club, ‘Flix and Chill).

Caucus CODEx

The Caucus CODEx centralizes community assets (e.g., resources, organizations) relevant to Black GBSGL men to ensure that our brothers have access to resources that will positively impact their health and wellness.
